by AaronAs I woke up this morning, it was still dark outside. I checked my phone.. It was almost five o'clock. I forced myself to wake up so that I could pack my things for our trip to Geneva. But before going to Geneva, we went on a tour of the famous flower auction at Royal Flower Holland. As we walked into the building, I was shocked by the sight in front of me. It was gigantic! Many people were shuttling trolleys of flowers from here to there on the floor of the warehouse. The reason for all this activity is that the flowers that are sold need to get to their destination as soon as possible. As the guide showed us around, we learned about all the processes that are required to get flowers from the farmer's field to flower shops around the world. It is not as easy as you think. She also showed us the auction clock, which works the opposite way of a normal auction. The auctioneer starts with a high price and allows the price to drop. The buyer is the first person to stop the clock. When we had finished visiting the market, we headed to the Dam square to buy some souvenirs. Though we had a limited amount of time, we all bought things that we liked. After shopping, we went to Schiphol airport. Unfortunately, we encountered a slight problem. Our luggage had not made it to the airport yet. But, our growling stomachs forced us to stop at a pizza restaurant, while our counselors went to find our bags. Luckily, everything went well. We were reunited with our bags and then got on our KLM flight headed for Geneva. As soon as we landed, we met a new counselor named Jeannette, She was very kind and friendly. We had dinner together at an outdoor Chinese restaurant called Bamboo Forest. We had fried rice and noodles, some tofu and also tasty beef. It was delicious, but the fly in the ointment was that some dishes were too spicy. After dinner, we headed back to our hotel to get some well-earned rest for tomorrow's 20 km cycling challenge.
